Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 2:00pm to 6:00pm
July 21st marks the 178th anniversary of Belgium's successful secession from the Netherlands. With a strong heritage and love for life, Belgian culture has gained international appreciation for its use of traditional ingredients and products. Washington, D.C.'s premier 'original' Belgian restaurant, Belga Café is hosting a celebration of food, beer, entertainment and fundraising to recognize this historic day of Belgian freedom. Located on Capital Hill's Barracks Row, Belga Café is the brainchild of Belgian native Chef Bart Vandaele. As U.S. brand ambassador of Belgian brews Stella Artois, Leffe and Hoegaarden, Chef Bart celebrates his culture through bold flavor, taste and pairing. On July 18, head to Belga Cafe's patio for a lesson on how to achieve 'The Perfect Pour with Stella Artois' from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. The cost is $5.00 for a beer, which includes a complementary glass and demonstration/instruction.
