Phillips after 5 combines live jazz, gallery talks, superb modern art, and a cash bar for a memorable evening on the first Thursday of every month, and every Thursday in August. Other elements, such as films and demonstrations, are often included as well. SEASONAL FARM FRESH FOODS provided by Geppetto Catering and Fresh Farm Market, including an artisan cheese tasting table and a delicious sampling of summer fresh appetizers sourced from local farmers. PEACH SANGRIA will be served by Derek Brown and the DC Bartender’s Guild. BEER TASTING by Birreria Paradiso’s Greg Jasgur. DJ DANNY HARRIS of Fatback DC spins a blend of funk, soul, and boogaloo. GALLERY TALK (6 and 7 pm) – Blitzkrieg Shock: Postwar Trauma’s Effect on Painting FILM SCREENING (6 pm) – The Diving Bell and the Butterfly: This true story details the life of Elle editor Jean-Dominique Bauby after he suffered a stroke that left him with the ability to use only his left eyelid. 2007, directed by Julian Schnabel, 133 minutes.
