Phillips After 5 combines a lively mix of people, jazz, gallery talks, superb modern art, and a cash bar for a memorable evening, every Thursday in August from 5 to 8:30pm.

Scheduled events:

Music (5–8:30pm): DJ Todd Threats.

Lecture (6:30 pm): “This jewel of an art museum": Richard Spear, former director of the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College, discusses the museum’s history from its opening in 1917 to the addition of a gallery for modern and contemporary art in 1977.  His talk also focuses on the 25 masterworks from Oberlin on view at the Phillips.

Gallery Talk (6 & 7pm): Landscape and the Lineage of Modernity. When works by old masters from Oberlin hang alongside 19th-century paintings from the Phillips, their expressive use of light, color, form, and line in landscape appears almost prophetic. by donation

Tasting (5–8:15pm): Devin Arloski of Latis Import Brands features two Belgian brews, Rodenbach Grand Cru and Palm Ale.

Admission: $12; free for members.

Due to the popularity of Phillips after 5, advance reservations during special exhibitions are encouraged to insure admission. Reserve online until 12 hours before the event:
