Eatonville
Submitted by Anita on January 20, 2010 - 1:18pmEatonville Restaurant’s Food and Folklore series celebrates Women’s History Month with a special wine dinner featuring Deborah Brenner, author of Women of the Vine and founder of Women of the Vine Cellars, the first-of-its-kind winery. Women of the Vine Cellars unites award-winning women winemakers from around the world under one brand. The label was inspired by Brenner’s experiences writing and publishing her book Women of the Vine selected in December 2007 by Wine Spectator as “Critical Reading.”
Brenner will be joined by Virginia winemaker Lori Corcoran of Corcoran Vineyards (Waterford, VA); and Mary Watson-DeLauder, an award-winning sommelier and Virginia Tourism, spokesperson for Virginia wines.
The evening begins with a reception featuring hors d'oeuvres, such as proscuitto-wrapped asparagus with Napa valley mustard sauce, goat cheese and olives on garlic crostini, cheddar crisps with roasted grape relish, and fried green olives stuffed with blue cheese. The 3-course dinner consists of Asparagus Soup with Parmesan Custard, Sonoma Duck Breast with green lentils, swiss chard and fig port reduction, and a Meyer Lemon Creme Brulee for dessert. Each dinner course will be paired with wine from Women of the Vine Cellars.
