The electrifying and inventive choreography that is Bowen McCauley Dance (BMD) returns with a ‘Red, Hot, and Fabulous’ theme of captivating performances to celebrate their milestone 15th Anniversary Season.

BMD will debut their milestone season on Friday and Saturday, October 1 and 2, 2010 with performances of some of McCauley’s greatest hits at Arlington’s Signature Theatre. The program will feature a reprisal of favorite intimate works for a small stage as well as McCauley’s newest creation, the stunning Time and Clouds which premiered at the prestigious summer 2010 Wintergreen Music Festival in Wintergreen, VA.

The performances will open with A Smile to Hide the Pain, a dance cabaret to music by Broadway’s Kander and Ebb, which premiered at Signature Theatre in June 2008.  With live music provided by Jeffery Watson and popular Signature singers Eleasha Gamble and Stephen Gregory Smith, the dancers will outdo themselves in this homage to America’s musical theater tradition.

Novellette No. 8, which premiered at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage in November 2009, will be danced to selections from Robert Schumann’s dynamic, unpredictable piano opus played live by BMD Music Director, Jeffery Watson.

Tos Claros…Santa Lucia is a solo piece choreographed for McCauley in 2004 by Jaime Sierra, Director of Cuerpo Etereo of Monterrey, Mexico to original music by Claudio Torres.  Wooden benches supported by two male dancers serve as prison, pillory and plank for the trancelike movements of the solo dancer.

The irreverent Hannah, You There? to Frances Poulenc’s Trois Movements Perpetuals pays tribute to Berlin Dada artist Hannah Hoch.  The performance premiered to critical acclaim at the Schritt Macher Festival in Aachen, Germany in 2006.

The DC area premiere of McCauley’s latest creation Time and Clouds had its inaugural performance to standing ovations at the prestigious Wintergreen Music Festival in Wintergreen, VA in July 2010. Choreographed to challenging music by contemporary Viennese composer, Wolfgang Seierl, the new work astonished the composer with McCauley’s grasp of his music.

The performance collection will conclude with the rousing finale to Lucy’s Playlist, Lucy McCauley’s 2009 Signature Theatre dance review salute to 80’s pop and rock.
