Poste’s lead bartender Jason Wiles has created three election-themed cocktails, one for Democrats, one for Tea Partiers, and one for Independent voters. On election day, the restaurant will offer all day happy hour and bar menu service until 1am (the cocktails will be available for $10), and the winning party’s cocktail will stay on the menu through inauguration.
The Bi-Partisan Martini ($14) ‘equal parts of everything’
1 ½ oz. Plymouth Gin
1 ½ oz. Dolin Blanc Vermouth
1 dash orange bitters
1 dash lemon bitters
Combine ingredients with ice in a mixing glass. Stir and strain into a martini glass.
The Tea Partier ($12)
1 ½ oz. Sailor Jerry Rum
¾ oz. chamomile and citrus tea
¼ oz. lemon juice
¼ oz. lime juice
¼ oz. agave nectar
2 dashes grapefruit bitters
Combine ingredients with ice in a shaker tin. Shake and strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
A Blue State of Mind ($12)
1 ½ oz. Bluecoat gin
½ oz. St. Germain
¼ oz. lime juice
2 in. sprig of rosemary
Vieux Carre absinthe rinse
Combine ingredients in a shaker tin with ice. Shake and double strain into a martini glass that has been rinsed with absinthe.
