Seven D.C. Chefs to Toast Inauguration Weekend with Late Night Fundraiser to Benefit Charities

In mid-January, Washington, DC will fill with politicos and food lovers from across the country to celebrate the presidential inauguration. Celebrity Chef, Art Smith, is opening his regionally-inspired restaurant, Art and Soul, in The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel, for a late-night Chefs Ball to celebrate President Obama’s inauguration with Washingtonians, visitors, and the D.C. restaurant community.

Executive Chef Wes Morton will co-chair the Chefs Ball with Chef Smith, and their donations will benefit Common Threads, a non-profit organization co-founded by Chef Smith and his partner, Jesus Salguiero, to help low-income children understand the importance of nutrition and physical well-being. Five additional D.C. celebrity chefs will prepare late night bites for the event and proceeds will benefit their charities of choice.

The $75 main event ticket includes late-night bites prepared by D.C. celebrity chefs, an open bar, and live music. The 11:00 PM start time allows guests coming from other galas and events to continue the celebration at Art and Soul, and encourages chefs and their teams to participate as well. The evening will kick off at 10:30 PM with a tented, intimate VIP reception on the patio.

ABOUT THE LIAISON CAPITOL HILL

The closest hotel to the U.S. Capitol, The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel, is just steps away from Union Station and the National Mall’s world-famous monuments and museums.  A recent renovation completely transformed all 343 guestrooms and corridors to feature modern lighting and sleek furnishings, creating an ambiance of contemporary living. An iconic art program reflects the hotel’s power-spot location, including dramatic six by six feet oil portraits of political leaders that greet guests in the lobby and an edgy, gallery-like photographic series that traces “a day in the life” of a fictional D.C. mover and shaker amid many of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. The Liaison offers the only seasonal, open-air rooftop bar on Capitol Hill; the space boasts a pool, handcrafted cocktails and light fare.
