Whiskey Destination Jack Rose Dining Saloon Celebrates Repeal Day with Weeklong Celebration & 1920's-inspired Fête
1,400 bottle whisky powerhouse celebrates the 21st amendment with prohibition-priced cocktails, burlesque performer, 1920's inspired menu & sneak preview of private new basement bar & more
There's no better place to celebrate the abolition of the booze-prohibiting 18th amendment than a restaurant housing the largest selection of whiskey in the Western hemisphere. Jack Rose Dining Saloon is celebrating the day alcohol was made legal once again with a weeklong festival including a Repeal Day Party complete with prohibition-priced cocktails (think: $.50 glasses of prohibition punch), a 1920s-inspired menu, an exclusive preview of its soon-to-open basement bar and even burlesque performances.
During "Repeal Week" from November 28 through December 4, Jack Rose will serve a special a la carte menu of dishes inspired by the 1920s, such as Steamed Quail Buns with roast quail, charred scallion and plum sauce and Lobster Thermidor with Maine lobster and brandy cream. Then on Repeal Day itself, diners can make reservations for a four-course tasting menu in the dining room for only $20 from 5-10 p.m., which also allows them access to the later Repeal Day Party festivities. Also available during Repeal Week are a series of extremely rare draft beers curated by Jack Rose beer director Nahem Simon including Goose Island Bourbon County Stout & J.W. Lees Harvest Ale Limited Edition LAGAVULIN 2011.
For those who want to celebrate in the truest Repeal Day fashion (by drinking), the booze-fueled Repeal Day Party will run from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. A $20 ticket gains one access to two areas of the bar: the second floor balcony 'Roosevelt Room' with bottomless bubbles, specials on classic cocktails and cigars; and the never-before-seen Basement Punch Bar, a soon-to-open private bar which will offer prohibition-priced punch, specialty whiskeys and burlesque performances.
Reservations must be made for the $20 four-course tasting dinner on December 5th by calling 202-588-7388 or emailing email@example.com. Tickets for the Repeal Day Party can be purchased for $20 by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or at the door.
Four-course Repeal Day tasting dinner: 5-10 p.m.
Repeal Day Party: 10 p.m. - 1 a.m.
