Grand Opening

Event Date:
Monday, September 15, 2014 - 7:00am to 7:00pm

On Monday, September 15th, PAUL will open (see photos:) its sixth bakery in the Washington, DC area, just two blocks from the White House – located in the Columbia Square Building on F St. NW in the Metro Center neighborhood.

Established in Lille, France in 1889, PAUL is a 125 year old world-renowned bakery with nearly 500 stores in 25 countries, and in such prime locations as Barcelona, Brussels, Cairo, Dubai, Istanbul, London, Moscow, Paris, Singapore, and Tokyo.

The 2,200 sq.ft. store is opulently decorated so as to transport you to Paris… with its antique fixtures, authentic French artwork, and elegant tufted velvet, suede and fabric chairs and banquettes. The café is illuminated by a full wall of windows, and will accommodate approximately 30 guests inside. The outdoor covered portico of the Columbia Square building accommodates table seating for 20 guests who wish to dine al fresco year-round.

Throughout the day, PAUL’s friendly staff serves a wide array of decadent pastries, quiches, crepes, sandwiches made on fresh baguettes, fresh salads, and even soup, in addition to hot teas and Lavazza coffee. PAUL also offers catering (for breakfast, lunch, or even office parties), and is able to deliver for catered events to nearby offices.

At PAUL, we celebrate the art of bread! Our breads are made fresh daily without additives or preservatives from organic, locally sourced flour milled exclusively for PAUL. Among the most popular breads: La Charlemagne, a baguette bread made from whole wheat flour featuring a thin crust and dense center; Pain 7 Cereales, a fiber-rich, flavorful bread made with seven healthy grains; and Fougasse aux Olives, a bread from Southern France made with olive oil and chunky green and black olives.

Adding to the PAUL experience is the company’s renowned Viennoiserie which features melt-in-your-mouth, buttery pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolat, and turnovers all prepared daily at the bakery. PAUL’s sweeter side is showcased with an impressive pâtisserie selection of seasonal cakes, tarts and their much-loved, colorful Macarons.  From French favorites such as the crispy, crème filled Millefeuille (know in America as Napoléons) to decadent desserts such as Moelleux au Chocolat, a soft, dense dark chocolate cake, and intricate seasonal specialties such as Seasonal Fruit Tarts featuring loads of seasonal fruit picked at its ripest and paired with flaky, sugary crust and crème pâtissière.

Hours: Mon-Fri: 7am-7pm; Sat-Sun: 8am-6pm.
