House-rent parties flourished in the black neighborhoods of Washington, DC, especially during the jazz era. For a small fee, neighbors could enjoy live music, cheap drinks and good company.
The Black Space Rent party will feature a soulful ’70s music mix by DJ RBI, as well as games of dominos and spades and intermittent porch performances by artist Holly Bass.
Minimum donation, $10. Proceeds will benefit the DC Public Library Foundation.
