On Saturday, February 6, New Belgium Brewing will host a soiree that is sure to end on a sour note, which in this case is a good thing!

“Lost in the Woods”, the brewery’s annual sour beer vintage release party, celebrates New Belgium’s passion for sour beers and highlights the brewery’s expanded wood cellar. New Belgium’s sour beer program is one of the first and largest in the U.S.

The party will feature New Belgium’s 2016 La Folie, the award-winning sour brown that launched New Belgium’s wood beer program in 1997. When La Folie first rolled out it received a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival and continues to serve as one of New Belgium’s most beloved sours. Every year, Eric Salazar, New Belgium’s Wood Cellar Manager, and Lauren Salazar, New Belgium’s Sour Beer Blender, coordinate a blending of various foeders to make a 100% sour brown ale. The evening will also feature the 2016 Transatlantique Kriek, a wood-aged sour cherry ale, brewed in collaboration with Belgium’s Oud Beersel brewery. This is the seventh year New Belgium has been brewing a Belgian Collaboration Kriek, which is a blend of Cherry Lambic beers from Oud Beersel, along with a Golden Strong Ale and Sour Ale from New Belgium.

A ticket to “Lost in the Woods” includes a build-your-your-own sour beer flight (four 5 oz. pours of your choice), paired appetizers from Union Kitchen, live music from Jonny Grave, and a custom commemorative letterpress poster print from Typecase Industries, which will be printed on-site.
