In the continuation of bringing national and local retailers to the district, Union Market will host the first installation of new pop-up concept shop Brief Assembly this holiday season. Brief Assembly is a fully operational storefront space where selected makers, designers and independent brands from across the U.S. will have their goods sold in a unique and curated shopping experience. The store will run from Saturday, November 25 through Saturday, December 23 in a historic warehouse space.
Brief Assembly was created by Carolyn Misterek of MATINE and Mallory Shelter of Mallory Shelter Jewelry, both small business owners in the District. The duo dreamed up the concept to help fellow creative brands gain exposure and reach a new customer base in the D.C. area, while also designing a new shopping experience for local residents.
Opening on Small Business Saturday, savvy shoppers will have the chance to peruse an array of women’s apparel, jewelry, apothecary and beauty items, leather goods and accessories, and homewares perfect for gifting. More than 20 local and national brands, including Emerson Fry, Our Heiday, WKNDLA, Par en Par and Evermore Paper Co will be available to shop at the pop-up.
In addition to the impressive roster of independent makers and designers featured in the shop, Brief Assembly will also host special events, workshops and trunk shows, putting a twist on the traditional holiday shopping experience.
On Tuesday, November 28, Brief Assembly will officially kick off the holiday shopping season with its grand opening celebration featuring a Tattly Tattoo parlor, live printing from local letterpress studio Typecase Industries, a photo booth, and food and drinks from Union Market favorites.
