Popular DC homegrown modern consignment clothing shop Current Boutique is celebrating ten years this month of providing curated designer wears, one-of-a-kind statement pieces and hand-picked accessories to fashionistas across the DC Metro region. The boutique will host with a fun-filled customer appreciation weekend set for April 28-30 and announce the debut of their national online consignment platform catering to the on the go working woman looking to easily consign her quality designer garments from the convenience of her home from anywhere in the U.S.
The boutique will host a ‘Currently Craving’ Customer Appreciation Weekend April 28-30 in all store locations (Arlington, Alexandria, DC, Bethesda). The weekend will feature complimentary bubbles and bites, giveaways, a chance to win a $100 gift card, 10% off shopping, a Currently Craving Photo Booth, and curated fashion sections throughout the store highlighting the latest Spring trends, such as Pretty Pastels, Festival Essentials, Spring Fling and Fabulous Ever After.
The new online website will give consigners anywhere in the U.S. the opportunity to consign with Current Boutique. Targeting the market of modern working women between the age of 24-45 with active social calendars that have quality contemporary designer goods to sell, but their garments don’t fit in the realm of qualifying for fashion sites like The Real Real (focused on luxury consignment, or Thread Up (geared toward bargain thrift consignment), consigners can pop their items in a box, drop it in the mail using the prepaid shipping label and the boutique will handle garment review, pricing of items, online placement, and the donation of items that were not selected for consigning. The online consign option will accept women's clothing (sizes 0-12), shoes, jewelry and designer handbags in perfect condition, with consigners receiving 50% of the selling price. Consigners can receive payment at any time and cash out online.
Owner Carmen Lopez, a D.C. native, opened her first location in the hip Clarendon section of Arlington in April 2007 and has made a regional mark in the consignment business. She made the leap from working in corporate America for over eight years to something completely of her own making. With a passion for clothes and getting a great deal, prior to launching her business, she worked part-time at local boutiques to get her fashion fix. With Current Boutique, she created an outlet for a woman’s need for “retail therapy” while leaving them feeling stylish, guilt free, and a spot for fashionistas to recycle brand name treasures. Since opening her first boutique, she expanded in the DC Metro region, branching into Old Town Alexandria, 14th Street in DC, and Bethesda. She has lent her style advice to numerous photo shoots, musicians, notable actresses and regional fashion shows.
Carrying designers such as Trina Turk, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch to casual wear like Anthropologie, Vince, Free People, and J Crew gives loyal customers a variety of contemporary focus inventory of quality, modern, trendy and timeless classic fashion. Customers can both buy and sell the latest fashions in which consigners make 50 percent of what the store prices the item.
