For the first time since the conception of the US Coffee Championship in 2002, DC will be part of the nationally and internationally recognized competition. Dolcezza and Coffee District (DC’s community-driven coffee event organizers) will host a US Coffee Championship Preliminary- the only one on the East coast- next weekend. To celebrate the occasion, an entire weekend of events has formed around the Preliminaries, yielding the first DC Coffee Fest.
“The DC Coffee scene has long been under-reviewed and under-appreciated and we believe it's time for that to change,” says Coffee District Event Coordinator Alexander Gable. “Coffee District is super excited to be hosting the first of many annual Coffee Fests as an opportunity for us to share the diversity and creativity of our treasured city, and our favorite part is to have the entire community involved-- coffee professionals and coffee lovers alike.”
DC’s coffee community is poised to welcome baristas, brewers, roasters, tasters, and general coffee fanatics from all over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region in attendance across four days and six events. “Our deepest desire is to play our part in developing the identity of the coffee community in the DMV,” says Victor Vasquez, Culinary Director at Dolcezza. These events will take place at the Dolcezza Gelato Factory and Coffee Lab, Cotton & Reed, La Colombe in Manhattan Laundry, and The Wydown at the Apollo.
