Royal in LeDroit Park Hosts Guest Bartender Daniel Runnerstrom of Maxwell Park for Friendsgiving-Themed ‘Royal Knights’ Pop-Up with Grape-Based Spirits & $8 Wine Cocktails on Monday, 11/13

8 Holiday Cocktails at $8, Shareable ‘Porronucopias’ & Grappa Boilermakers from Special Guest Bartender Daniel Runnerstrom of Maxwell at monthly industry night on Nov. 13

For the latest installment of its monthly “Royal Knights” spirits and cocktail exploration series, Royal in LeDroit Park is partnering with their friends at Maxwell Park, Shaw’s newest wine bar, on a special one-night Friendsgiving cocktail pop-up, on Monday, November 13 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Guest bartender Daniel Runnerstrom of Maxwell will collaborate with Royal’s bar team on eight creative cocktails, each incorporating wine or grape-based spirits such as brandy, Armagnac, cognac and Singani, plus some shareable drinks, by-the-bottle wine specials and Thanksgiving-inspired fare.

Inspired by the tradition of communal pre-Thanksgiving dinner parties with friends, “Royal Knights” Friendsgiving edition will feature fall cocktails perfect for group gatherings, showcasing the seasonal flavors of cranberry, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, plum, and more. All cocktails will be $8 for the evening.

In true Friendsgiving spirit, Royal has also created a communal holiday drink – the Porronucopia – perfect for sharing with friends. Served in a porron, the shareable Spanish drinking vessel, the Porronucopia ($20) features an abundance of white wine, cranberry, vodka and lemon.

Runnerstrom is sommelier and partner at Maxwell Park, new Shaw wine bar founded by local vino expert Brent Kroll. He has created the following four cocktails:

For those who need a palate cleaner between cocktails, Royal will also offer $3 canned brews from beer sponsor Atlas Brew Works. By-the-bottle wine specials and grappa-based boilermakers will also be available.

And for hungry drinkers, Chef Cable Smith has created a special Thanksgiving-inspired Grilled Quail with plantain stuffing, 'nduja and blackberry agridulce ($17), available until 11 p.m. The kitchen will be open until 1am serving handmade roasted chicken and vegetarian tamales for $10.

This is part of Royal’s “Royal Knights” event series, where on the second Monday of each month, they focus on a new batch of craft spirits, lesser-known liqueurs, and the creative people who make them, hosting guest-bartenders from around the country and introducing guests to creative new brands in the booze industry.

Royal’s monthly “Royal Knights” industry nights are free and open to the public, running from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the second Monday of every month. Details for subsequent “Royal Knights” nights will be announced closer to each event. For more information, please call 202-332-7777.
