Kathy Rizzo hosts the next installment of the Heurich House Museum’s all-star History & Hops series.

On Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6:30-8:30pm, the District of Columbia Brewers' Guild Executive Director will host the monthly beer-themed after-hours event, giving visitors the chance to mingle with a DC beer insider while also touring through the historic Brewmaster’s Castle.

The DC Brewers’ Guild is the first modern brewers’ guild in DC and was founded in 2014 at the Heurich House Museum, home of DC’s most successful Brewmaster. When the Chr. Heurich Brewing Company closed in 1956, the production of beer for distribution was halted in Washington, DC. It wasn’t until 2011, with the founding of DC Brau, that beer production and distribution manufacturing returned to the district. Focused on connecting local craft beer producers and fostering community development and pride, the DC Brewers’ Guild has gone on to host annual events such as DC Beer Week and Hopfest. At History & Hops, visitors will be able to enjoy local beer in the room where the DC Brewers Guild was formed.

Kathy Rizzo has spearheaded the development of the DC Brewers Guild, expanding its role in local beer promotion. Growing up in the food service business, Kathy’s love of hospitality and the food and beverage industries have given her particular insight into the world of DC Beer. Now, she’ll share this wealth of knowledge, and a few of her favorite local beers, with History & Hops visitors as they gain unparalleled access to mingle and discuss her years of experience with the DC Brewers’ Guild and craft beer in the District of Columbia.

Tickets for History & Hops hosted by Kathy Rizzo are $30 per person and include tastings, snacks and tours of the Heurich House Museum. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit http://bit.ly/HHMay2017. Guests must be 21 or older. All proceeds benefit the preservation and growth of the Heurich House Museum.

About History & Hops: History & Hops is a monthly series at the Heurich House Museum that highlights the home’s brewery-related history. The museum preserves the former Dupont Circle home of D.C.'s most successful brewer Christian Heurich (1842-1945) and enriches the cultural life of Washington, DC. Every third Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, the museum partners with local beer insiders for house tours and beer tastings. Self-guided tours through Heurich’s well-preserved Victorian mansion will feature information about his brewery and the D.C. region’s rich brewing history. All proceeds benefit the preservation and growth of the Heurich House Museum.
