The Arts Club of Washington is pleased to announce its November 2017 Art Exhibition, “Washington Baroque” by classical painter Teresa Oaxaca. Held in the club’s historic Monroe and MacFeely Galleries the artwork will be on view November 3 – November 25, 2017 with a free public reception on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Combining human and still life elements, Oaxaca’s most recent body of work shifts away from academic studies to more elaborate compositions. “My work is about pleasing the eye. I paint light and the way it falls. Simple observation reveals beauty; often it is found in the unconventional. Because of this I have learned to take particular delight in unusual pairings of subject matter” writes Oaxaca. “Washington Baroque” is curated by Dr. Eric Denker, Senior Lecturer, National Gallery of Art.

The club’s cooperative Spilsbury gallery features works by photographer Jonathan Zuck. Other participating artists include; Nik Ajazi, Lorna Aldrich, Gloria Benedetto, Camilla Bozzoli, Vicki Doyle, Susanne Eisinger, Larry Jarvik, Martine Khadr-Van Schoote, Peggy McNutt, C. Pamela Palco, Carol Porter, Earl Tester, and Lou Tanner.

Arts Club galleries are open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays.
