Embassy of Finland

Welcome to celebrate 100-year-old Finland together with us! Taste delicious food, meet friendly people and experience beautiful design.

This year the EU Open House takes place on Saturday, May 13. Once again the event offers a chance to see behind the gates and facades of the EU Embassies in Washington, D.C. Each embassy will be open to the public from 10 am until 4 pm, offering a rare look inside the buildings and providing a unique opportunity to experience the country’s cultural heritage and national traditions.

Take a shortcut to Europe without having to experience a jet lag and visit the Embassy of Finland on 3301 Massachusetts Avenue N.W. Our embassy building, often referred to as the Green Jewel of the Embassy Row, is a sight in itself, but you'll also get to join a day full of family fun, goodies, culture and more!

House of Sweden

On May 13th, 2017 the European Union Embassies and the EU Delegation to the United States will open their doors to the public for the annual EU Embassies’ Open House: a day of family fun, food, culture and more. The event offers visitors a rare look inside the embassies and provides a unique opportunity for experiencing the cultural heritage and national traditions of the 28 member countries.

Visit House of Sweden to learn how to dance traditional Swedish Folk Dance and Ask a Swede something you’ve always wondered about our Scandinavian country. Enjoy Jazz music and traditional Swedish tunes, and bring your little ones to Room For Children and listen to readings from Sweden’s favorite children’s books. You can also get your face painted and try your luck at a Fish Pond, or why not experience the sensation of driving a truck in our Volvo Truck Simulator?

Swedish short films are playing all day, our exhibitions are open and on display, and there will be lots of Swedish Fika for visitors craving something sweet. A cup of coffee or lemonade can be enjoyed with a view, since we are opening up our roof top for all visitors!
