We invite you to come celebrate the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act (August 6th) and the anniversary of DACA’s implementation (August 15th) with us and honor our nation’s greatest moments by reaffirming our commitment to stand with immigrants, protecting our voting rights, and fight for health care access for all especially in this moment when all of these areas are under attack. We will be screening the documentary “14: Dred Scott, Won Kim Ark, & Vanessa Lopez” and hosting a post-film panel discussion around citizenship and the impacts of citizenship recognizing the difficulty of attaining citizenship and its implications on voting and health care access. This special screening will include food and drinks.

The documentary Film 14: Dred Scott, Wong Kim Ark & Vanessa Lopez explores the recurring question about who has the right to be an American citizen. 14 examines the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment through compelling personal stories and expertly-told history. (http://14themovie.com)
