Enjoy the Best of the Best Short Films
Including Two Competing for the Gold at the 2018 Oscars
The DC Shorts International Film Festival is hosting the annual DC Shorts WINS! on March 2nd and 3rd at the Miracle Theatre. DC Shorts WINS! features award-winning films from the most recent DC Short Film Festival and Screenplay Competition held each September. We've lined up two fully-packed showcases of award-winning film shorts, all of which won Jury or Audience Awards, and many have won accolades worldwide. Each of the two showcases includes seven shorts, comprised of comedy, drama, documentary, and animation from the U.S., Ireland, and Japan, among other countries.
Two of these prized films have been nominated for the 2018 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short: Watue Wote - All of Us, a drama from Germany about religious unrest in Kenya; and My Nephew Emmett, a U.S. drama based on the true story of the racially motived murder of Emmett Louis Till. The Academy Awards ceremony is on Sunday March 4, providing our film enthusiasts the opportunity to see the shorts immediately prior to their potential Oscar win!
