WHAT:           On Wednesday, March 7, 2018, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar will host a rum dinner featuring Papa’s Pilar Rum, located in Key West, Florida.  Most rums are indigenous to their countries of origin, but Papa’s Pilar is a blend of rum from the Caribbean, Central America and Florida – all areas Ernest Hemingway spent significant portions of his life.  Guests will learn the history of rum and its many forms from white and spiced, to aged rums.  One will also hear how the spirit is intertwined into American and Cuban history.  The evening will begin with cocktail hour featuring light bites and the Papa’s Watering Hole cocktail, which was awarded first place in the restaurant’s first annual Mixology Match.  A four-course dinner, prepared by Cuban-born Executive Chef Angel Roque, will follow with dishes paired with Papa’s Pilar’s finest rums.  Standouts featured for the evening include Papa’s Pilar blonde rum, Papa’s Pilar dark rum and Papa’s Pilar sherry cask and a New Cuban cocktail with Papa’s Pilar blonde & dark rums, lime and sugar, topped with prosecco and walnut bitters.  The cost of the dinner is $85 per person (all inclusive).

Additionally, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar will offer the Papa’s Watering Hole cocktail as a special libation throughout the month of March.  Priced at $10, this refreshing drink will be available during lunch, dinner and weekend brunch and is made from a combination of Papa’s Pilar Blonde, watermelon basil purée, fresh lime juice and fall spice syrup, shaken and garnished with a mint sprig, watermelon segment and charred cinnamon.
