Bonjour and Gosh Dang!

It’s the Redneck Riviera Dinner

On Wednesday, May 23rd at 6:30, Chef/owners Christophe & Michelle Poteaux of Bastille offer a five-course $59 prix fixe menu paired with wines of Languedoc in the central part of southern France, (roughly the region between the river Rhône and the Garonne, extending northwards to the Cévennes and the Massif Central).  The dinner will partner Southern favorites with the wines of this region.

How about some high falutin Southern-inspired vittles?   The menu begins with Deviled Eggs with lemon, capers and dill paired with Les Vignobles Foncalieu, Les Petits Roucas, Vin de Pays d’Oc 2016(100% Sauvignon Blanc); followed by shrimp salad with Green Goddess dressing, celery, radish, fennel and green onion with Moulin de Gassac, Vin de Pays de l’Herault Blanc Guilhem 2017(Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Terret Bourret); Crawfish~Merguez and Carolina grits withsautéed greens paired with Domaine de l’Hortus, Pic Saint-Loup, Bergerie de l’Hortus Rosé 2017

(Grenache, Syrah) French barbecued pork--shredded pork, corn pudding, cole slaw and cheddar biscuits with Les Volets, Malbec 2016 (100% Malbec); and finishing with Peach Cobbler with buttermilk ice cream and Saint-Hilaire, Semi-sweet 2015(Chenin Blanc, Mauzac, Chardonnay).

Languedoc is a significant producer of wine, and a major contributor to the surplus known as the "wine lake". Today it produces more than a third of the grapes in France, and is a focus for outside investors. Wines from the Mediterranean coast of Languedoc are labeled as Languedoc, those from the interior have other labels such as FrontonGaillac, or Limoux to the west – and Côtes du Rhône towards east.

Bastille is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 am until 10 pm and Sunday 11:30 am until 9pm serving brunch, lunch, dinner and all day dining with café and bar menu offered.  The restaurant is located in The Asher at 606 N. Fayette Street in Alexandria, VA, just two blocks from the Braddock Metro.  For reservations and further information log into www.bastillerestaurant.com or call 703-519-3776.
