Sister District DC Fundraiser for Pennsylvania Democrats

Event Date:
Saturday, May 19, 2018 - 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Included Items:

Ready to get in shape for the 2018 election? Want to flex some civic muscle? Join Sister District DC for a fun evening of food, drinks, gerrymandered cookies and conversation.

Your donations will be split 50-50 between Maria Collett and Sara Johnson Rothman, who are running for Pennsylvania’s 12th State Senate district and 151st House of Representatives district respectively. Winning in Pennsylvania will help bust Republican supermajorities and pave the way for flipping the state legislature blue in 2020 and 2022.

A lifelong advocate for those in need, Maria worked as an attorney fighting for children victimized by abuse and neglect before transitioning to a career in nursing. Working in the areas of pediatric home health, trauma and long term care, Maria has provided comfort and been the voice for people in their most vulnerable moments. As Senator for the 12th District of Pennsylvania (serving parts of Montgomery and Bucks counties), Maria will continue listening to the needs of the community and bringing fresh ideas to Harrisburg where smart decisions and thoughtful discourse can lead Pennsylvania to the forefront of progressive change.

After graduating early from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Sara moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University - Beasley School of Law. At Temple Law, she honed trial advocacy skills that led her to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office ("DAO"). After completing an internship in 2004 and subsequently graduating Temple Law the following year, Sara joined the Bucks DAO as an Assistant District Attorney.

In December 2017, Sara was elected as the Vice President of the Upper Dublin School Board. She serves on the District's contract negotiating teams (UDEA, UDESPA, Act 93), chairs the Policy Committee, and is a member of the Operations Committee. Under her leadership, the School District of Upper Dublin updated hundreds of policies and administrative regulations as well as expanding its anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policies for both students and employees to include gender identity and gender expression, and adopting a policy protecting transgender and gender expansive students.
