The Trust for the National Mall launched its young professionals group, The L'Enfant Society, with a kick-off happy hour at Teatro Goldini on Thursday, January 14th. The advocacy organization, dedicated to the restoration of the National Mall, hopes that its prominent young leaders led by Chairman John Cecci will be good stewards of the cause.

The L'Enfant Society's work will bolster the overall fundraising effort of The Trust, launched in 2007 and led by Chairman Chip Akridge and President Caroline Cunningham and partnering with the National Park Service and private sector.

Hosting 25 million American and foreign visitors each year, the National Mall has more than $350 millions in deferred maintenance costs at present. As a result, the nation's "front yard" is in a state of serious disrepair. The Trust aims to raise funds to restore national treasures including the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument and World War II Memorial, as well as cultural and ecological treasures such as the cherry blossom population to their former glory.
