Get Ready for a Haute Night Out!

Attention fellow fashion lovers, consider September 10th your unofficial holiday! That’s when the super successful international fashion event, Fashion’s Night Out (FNO), arrives in DC and takes over Georgetown, which is this year’s official FNO DC regional host. The all-out extravaganza will feature participating Georgetown boutiques, restaurants, galleries, salons, “Cirque” folk, and dancing insects. (No, the last two were not errors, more on that shortly!)

We learned of all the exciting details and were introduced to this year’s fabulous host committee at a pre-event soiree, hosted by The Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) and held at Hu’s Wear boutique. The FNO host committee is a virtual “who’s who” of the local fashion and style scene and includes: Mary Amons (Labels for Love and The Real Housewives of DC), Jennifer Barger (Washington Post), Annie Lou Bayly (DailyCandy), Rachel Cothran (Project Beltway), Jeff Dufour (UrbanDaddy), Lynda Erkiletian (T.H.E. Artist Agency), Kelly Collis Fredrick (CityShopGirl), Angie Goff (WUSA-9 TV), Lana Orloff (Washington Life Magazine), Janice Wallace (The Capitol Fashionista), and Paul Wharton (Evolution Look).

One of the evening’s main highlights will include buzzing costumed performers from the Cirque du Soleil production of Ovo (coming to the National Harbor on September 9) performing and leading everyone in the Ovo Bug Dance. Prizes will be given to those with serious bug dance skills, so be sure to impress the Bug Dance Squad and show all your friends who’s queen (or king) bee!

Store all of your awesome fashion finds in the Official Fashion's Night Out eco-friendly tote bags, which will be available for purchase at FNO merchants and retailers for $10, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Labels for Love. Ten very lucky fashionistas/fashionistos who purchase the FNO buzz-worthy bags will find a pair of tickets to Ovo hiding out in their bag!

Wearing your favorite stilettos for the evening’s festivities? No problem! Brave Georgetown’s famous, but totally shoe-lethal cobblestones by taking the Georgetown Blue Bus, which will be operating free of charge throughout the evening. Free pedicab rides also will be available when you show a receipt for any purchase from any participating FNO retailer. There also will be a “vitaminwater zero hydration lounge,” open from 6-11pm at Dean and Deluca, offering cool vitaminwater and a perfect place to chill between retail workouts. The lounge also will feature a DJ, so you can relax and compare shopping notes with your fellow fashionistas and fashionistos, and then be recharged for more of the night's events!

While we couldn’t possibly list ALL of the events and soirees happening on September 10th (there are over 65 participating retailers and venues, after all!), our friends at FNO DC have put together a thorough list of all the evening’s participating venues, schedules, and updates. Some of our "must see” Fashion’s Night Out stops?  Alchimie Forever, Farmers and Fishers, Georgetown Cupcake, Urban Chic, and Wink.  See you all “Out” on the 10th!
